Dear One, after the last of the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, I was scrolling on Facebook when I came upon an image of kittens walking into the prayer room and exiting as lions. I thought, “That is the best image I have ever seen for conveying what can take place when Man sits privately with God and His Word. I was joyously reminded of how a single hour alone with God can renew one’s heart, mind and weary soul.
For at the moment, I was feeling weak like the kittens on the screen. I was worn out from all that had gone on before, and overwhelmed by what had been put on hold and now must be given my full attention. As I sat scrolling, I had no inspiration left for all the must-be-dones. On top of that, I had no burning desire to plan and gather all that was needed for next week’s annual prayer ministry celebration. I was frazzled, but as I sat staring at the transformation of kittens into lions I knew exactly what I needed, and it was not more Facebook time. I needed to go to bed, get up fully rested, and in the absolute silence of still-dark-morning spend an hour with God, for one reason and one reason only…for the love of Him. And that is what I did. When I arose to carry out what God had prepared for me to do that day, I was energized, inspired and fully ready to begin again. I also carried with me helpful ideas from Scripture to share at the upcoming ministry celebration. When I entered the prayer time, I didn’t look anything like a kitten, and I looked even less like a lion when I exited, but an inner transformation had taken place…one that could almost make a person roar.
“The wicked run away when no one is chasing them,
but the godly are as bold as lions.” Proverbs 28:1
