Orange Buttermilk Salad

Ingredients
  • 1 can (20 ounces) unsweetened crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 package (6 ounces) orange-flavored gelatin
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
  1. In a saucepan, combine pineapple and sugar.
  2. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  3. When mixture boils, immediately add gelatin and stir until dissolved.
  4. Remove from the heat; cool slightly.
  5. Stir in buttermilk, and chill until partially set.
  6. Fold in whipped topping and nuts.
  7. If necessary, chill until mixture mounds slightly.
  8. Pour into a lightly oiled 8 & ½ cup mold.
  9. Chill overnight.
  10. Servings 12 to 16.
